Bunia, a city of more than one million people, is now at the center of the Ebola outbreak in Africa. Families displaced by conflict crowd the streets and markets every day while access to clean water remains dangerously limited.
In displacement camps, children live and play near contaminated water and open sewage. Market workers spend entire days without washing their hands. Many families walk more than 30 minutes just to find water for drinking or hygiene.
During an Ebola outbreak, poor hygiene is not simply an inconvenience — it can mean the difference between life and death.
A Simple, Scalable, Community-Owned Response
Clean Water Distribution
Two cargo tricycles will deliver chlorinated water daily across Bunia’s highest-risk areas.
Hygiene Education
Community health educators will teach hygiene practices at every distribution point for 60 days.
WHO Standards
Every water source will follow World Health Organization chlorine treatment guidelines.
Community Partnership
Rebuilders Ministry has worked alongside local pastors and leaders in Bunia since 2019.
